Something to think about: "...saving just one pet won't change the world...but surely the world will change for that one pet..."
Thank you to all the volunteers and foster Mums and Dads who are helping this season.
We cannot save these animals without your help.
A special thanks to Publisher and Editor of El Coqui: Rhea Maxwell
who donates space in the publication every month to picture an animal for adoption.
As always we will continue to do our best to stop the suffering of these poor animals which are left abandoned in this beautiful town of Rincon.

ARF rescued dogs are all adoptible. ARF is not a shelter nor does it keep animals in its building. Rescued dogs are fostered by its recuerer and these parents can verify that older dogs (5 months and older) are sociable and have agreeable temperment. ARF ensure that all animals ready for adoption are immunized, dewormed and, if age appropriate, are spayed/neutered and heartworm negative. All the dogs and cats that are available for adoption are friendly and get along with other animals and families, and don't have tendencies toward resource guarding, history of biting or aggressiveness. One of ARF's mission is to offer the best and healthiest dog or cat who can be adopted into lifelong loving homes. Foster parents are people who truly care and go out of their way to make sure a dog or cat receives vet care, treat their charges with compassion, and housetrain them. A small adoption fee of $25 helps to cover medical cost.

When chosing a dog, it is best to avoid preconception of a model dog. Behavior is more important. A high level of sociability will contribute more to a dog's success in a home. ARF ensures that the rescued mixed-breed dogs and cats really like people and want to be with them. They are affectionate, congeinal and bond easily and strongly. These dogs are more fun to be with and cause the least worry to live with. A social, outgoing and friendly dog is the least likely to be aggressive. This is the best reason to adopt an ARF dog!

By the same token, it is important that you, as the adopting family, realize that a dog needs structure. You, as the owner, must teach your new pet the rules of the house. You must set parameters, stick to routines and then give affection. This will ensure that pet and family both know what is expected of them and everyone will get along together. Bonding with your pet is an important step to ensuring a loyal pet.

Animals Available For Adoption
Hi! I'm called Goldie.
This is Goldie, a 1 1/2 year old male terrier mix. He weights about 15 lbs and will remain a small guy. He is heartworm negative and immunized. On August 28th he will be neutered.  Goldie is an active friendly dog who  loves to play with the family. He enjoys walking on a leash and is housebroken. When its quiet time, he'll nap on the porch. Make Goldie part of your family. Call ARF to adopt him.

I also have a beautiful fluffy tail!

Who would be so cruel as to abandon this little beauty! This is Juliet, a 4 month old female mix with long floppy ears who may remain small. She is a calm puppy with a black nose and black spots on her belly! Juliet has received her first shots and has been dewormed. Call ARF to adopt this beautiful puppy.

And please, let your neighbors and friends of Rincon know that it's against the law to abandon an animal. The penalty justifiably carry a fine and/or jail time. Let's work together to pass this information along. If you have any questions, please call ARF at 787-823-7167.

Juliet has floppy ears!
Harriet's beginnings with ARF began very sadly. Back in October 2009, an ARF Board Member spotted her hiding in the woods. He noticed that she looked pink. After several days of coxing and leaving her food, she timidly approached. Harriet's untreated mange had caused her to loose practically all of her hair, leaving her exposed to sunburn! After several more feedings, the Board member was able to gently catcher her and get her treated. Today, Harriet is a healthy 1+ year old female with all of her hair back. She has been immunized, dewormed, and spayed. She's still a little shy since she's living with 6 other dogs in the foster home and the trauma. This is why it is very important that you give Harriet a home. She is a friendly, calm lady who gets along with everyone. Please adopt her today. Make Harriet's life complete. Call 787-823-7167.

This male grey tiger stripe kitten is 5 months old. Rascal and his brother (not shown) are exact twins and are ready for adoption. Cats being cats, brother Spanky was shy in my office and decided to stay in his cat carrier. They have both been immunized and dewormed and they both use litterboxes, although Rascal's litterbox contains soil. To adopt one or both of these handsome boys, please call ARF at 787-823-7167.

This is rumbunctious Rascal!
Blacky is such an attentive dog!
This is Blacky, a 1 yr old sato who is medium-large sized. He gets along with other animals and everyone else! He is such a sweetheart. Imagine him laying next to your feet while you both watch football. He is gentle, attentive and would make a great pet for any family. He's immunized and neutered too! To give Blacky a home, please contact ARF at 787-823-7167.

This male chihuahua-mix is available for adoption. When rescued, he and his sisters were emaciated, bitten by dogs, flea infested and seems to have been abused by a male. With the care of the Aguada Medical Clinic and the foster parents the puppies physically recuperated!

Today, Peter is a handsome husky 1 year old male whose body still show faint scars of his ordeal. He's neutered, immunized, dewormed and is housebroken. Peter has grown more confident but is still shy with humans although NOT aggressive in any way and friendly with other dogs. Peter needs a permanent home of his own with adults who will help him regain his trust in mankind. If you are that special family, then please call ARF today at 787-823-7167.

Peter is ARF's Special Boy
This is a mixed breed female called Mama. She is about over 2 years old, is heartworm negative,  immunized and spayed. She is a great dog who is obedient, loves to walk without a leash yet comes when called. She is fabulous with with other dogs, watches over the kids and is loyal to the adults. During the day she plays indoors and outdoors with dog companions and at night sleeps in an enclosed porch. To adopt this lovely lady, please call ARF at 787-823-7167.
